16-19 Bursary Fund

Schools administer a Discretionary and Vulnerable Groups Bursary fund for eligible Year 12 and Year 13 students.

The key priority of the Government is to use the bursary to help eliminate the gap in attainment between those from poorer and more affluent backgrounds, and to ensure every young person participates in and benefits from a place in 16-19 education. Bursary payments are awarded to assist students with participation-related costs.

Eligibility: To receive a bursary a student must be aged 16 or over and under 19 on 31st August of the year of the application.

Deadline: Each year, all applications must be returned to you home school by the end of September.

Further guidance for young people and their parents is available from the Education Funding Agency at https://www.gov.uk/1619-bursary-fund

More details about the Bursary Fund such as the policy document, application form and guidance are available from each school.
