Cotswold Edge's Students Celebrate A-Level Success!

Cotswold Edge Sixth Form, the consortium of Brimsham Green School, Chipping Sodbury School and Yate Academy, is delighted to celebrate the combined achievements of their Year 13 students, following the release of their examination grades today. This is the first time that students have sat full public examinations since 2019, and they are to be congratulated for the resilience and determination they have shown.

Kim Garland (Headteacher, Brimsham Green School) said, “Perhaps this year, more than ever, Cotswold Edge students are so deserving of their fantastic grades. Our partnership working continues to provide a rich curriculum offer, preparing students well for their diverse and exciting post 18 destinations.” Katherine Turner (Headteacher, Chipping Sodbury School) added, “The staff at each of our three schools have worked tirelessly for our students – there is no better day than today when we see this paying off: we couldn’t be prouder of what students have achieved, overcoming the challenges of the last two years.” Students are now about to embark on the next exciting stages of their lives, whether that be taking up university places or beginning apprenticeships. As Natalie Wilcox (Headteacher, Yate Academy) concluded, “Cotswold Edge students have worked with determination and made superb progress; they leave us now not only as young adults who have been academically successful, but as individuals who will go out into their communities and beyond and make a difference to people’s lives - they are our future doctors, teachers, engineers and much, much more.”

Cotswold Edge Sixth Form is able to offer wide range of courses, and students are often taught at more than one of the schools, travelling between them on a fully funded bus. We are delighted at the outcomes of this cohort of Sixth Formers, who have been extremely well supported in overcoming the difficulties of lockdowns and other disruptions to their learning, enabling them to focus on fulfilling their goals for their next steps. This has resulted in many notable successes, with students now able to move on to the next stage of their education or career pathways.

Registered at Brimsham Green, but taught across all three schools, we are delighted to celebrate the following students’ individual successes: Rowan A*A*A*A*A grades have secured his place reading Natural Sciences at Cambridge, and Joshua who will be furthering his considerable musical prowess through Cardiff University’s Music Degree course, as a result of his AAB grades. Freddie (Distinction*A*AB) is embarking on a prestigious apprenticeship in Cyber Security, and Nicole (A*AAB) is looking forward to starting her Theatre, Festival and Events Production degree at Bath Spa. Congratulations to Evie (AADistinction*) who is excited to be beginning her Education degree, and to Reuben (3 Distinctions and an A grade) who will be studying for a degree in Adult Nursing – we are so proud of all of you. A number of students, such as Rebecca, wanted to keep their options open, and with her A*A*AA grades, Rebecca now has the enviable task of deciding what and where to study - any university/apprenticeship provider will be fortunate to have her!
